Thoughts: Looking back at 2017 and forward to 2018

Time is starting to go so fast and so within a blink the end of 2017 has come and it is time to reflect on another year and look forward to 2018.

Let’s reflect

Looking back at my post about 2016 I can really say that 2017 has continued the upward spiral in my life. I graduated in January, got a job at a company I love in February and moved to Rotterdam in March. Overall, the start of the year was a whirlwind of change and a good part of the year has been about rearranging my life around these big changes. I have always seen graduating as the starting point of my ‘free time’ and it has truly been the case. Although I may have overdone it with the extra activities in my spare time, often not leaving enough time for friends and family. I have read 64 books so far and I hope to pass the 67 boundary before the new year. I have started a creative writing course and am now on to the second course where I have so far written multiple small stories and one short story of six pages. I did a bookstagram challenge and tried to keep blogging. I run a book club and I try to go to the movies as often as possible with my film girls. And there is always more to be doing, more books to read, more movies to see and more podcasts to listen to. I haven’t found the right balance yet, but I am trying hard and in the meantime, I am having a great time.

What’s next

Workwise I am excited to finish my training and do even more complicated things, I am also organizing an event and am curious to see where it will take me. I will keep on writing and try to write another short story and maybe participate in a writing contest. Let’s hope I keep blogging because I do enjoy it and I want to do more with my bookstagram.

I have rewritten 10 commandments for myself (if you remember the lovely vague ones from last year), but I won’t bother you with them this time. The most important thing for me is to focus on my health, my friends and, my family. All the extra stuff is fun, but it is important I don’t forget the people around me.

So what was your year like? Do you have any plans for 2018? Let me know in the comments below! Thank you for reading my blog and I hope to see you again in 2018 :)
